Virgin Voyages Gratuities in 2026:
What Changed and How to Avoid Paying More
Virgin Voyages built its reputation on being "no tipping required." For years, that meant your tips were bundled directly into the fare.
However, for 2026 bookings, that has officially changed. If you are planning a voyage this year, there is a new pricing structure you need to understand to ensure you are not hit with a surprise bill at the end of your vacation.
What Changed in 2026?
Virgin Voyages has transitioned to a new model called VoyageFair Choices (Base, Essential, and Premium). Under this system, gratuities are now "unbundled" from the base fare.
Pre-pay before sailing: $20 per person, per night | Pay onboard (Folio): $22 per person, per night
The Legacy Rule: If you booked your sailing before October 7, 2025, your gratuities are likely still included. This update applies to all new bookings for 2026 and beyond.
The Gratuity Hack: How to Slash the Cost
This is where my Virtuoso access saves you money. When you book a 2026 sailing through me, you receive exclusive Sailor Loot (onboard credit) that can be used to wipe out those daily charges.
| Voyage Length | Sailor Loot Per Cabin |
|---|---|
| 4 to 5 nights | $50 |
| 6 to 9 nights | $100 |
| 10+ nights | $200 |
Because Sailor Loot is a flexible credit on your onboard account, it automatically applies to your daily service charge. Essentially, you are using promotional money to pay your tips for you.
