Virgin Voyages Fare Alerts:
How I Track Price Drops, Promotions and Extra Sailor Loot

As a Gold-certified Virgin Voyages First Mate and Virtuoso-affiliated luxury travel advisor, I stay current on Virgin Voyages fare policies, promotions and advisor benefits so you do not have to. View my full advisor profile here.

Watching a Virgin Voyages Fare? I Can Track It With You.

Found a Virgin Voyages sailing you love, but wondering whether you should book now or wait for the price to change?

Send me the sailing and cabin you are considering.

I can help track the fare, watch changing promotions, compare cabin and VoyageFair options, and tell you when the total offer gets better.

Because with Virgin Voyages, a price drop does not always mean a better deal.

A new fare can come with different flexibility, a different promotion, less Sailor Loot, or different cabin availability. On eligible bookings, I can also check for additional advisor Sailor Loot and benefits that you will not see by simply refreshing the public fare.

What I Watch

Fare Has the actual cruise price changed?
Cabin Is the category and location you want still available?
Promotion Did Virgin launch an offer that improves the booking?
Sailor Loot Does the offer include onboard credit, and can eligible advisor benefits add more?
The number I care about Cruise Fare + Cabin + VoyageFair + Promotions + Eligible Discounts + Sailor Loot = Your Real Offer

Already booked? Send me the sailing and what you currently have, and I can help you understand how it compares with the current offer.

Does Virgin Voyages Have Fare Alerts?

Yes, but there is an important distinction.

Virgin Voyages lets travelers sign up for email alerts about cruise deals, promotions and new itineraries.

Those emails are useful if you are browsing for a good opportunity.

But they are not the same as having someone watch the specific ship, date, cabin and fare option you actually want.

If you already have a Virgin sailing in mind, that is where more targeted fare tracking becomes useful.

Instead of waiting for the next "70% off" email, I can look at what is happening with your actual voyage.

Why Virgin Voyages Fares Change

Virgin cruise fares can move as cabin inventory changes, a sailing fills, new promotions launch or certain dates and cabin categories receive targeted offers.

There is another wrinkle: VoyageFair Choices.

Depending on the cabin, you may see Base, Essential and Premium fares with different pricing, flexibility and inclusions.

So when you see a lower Virgin Voyages fare, the first question is not simply:

"Did the price drop?"

It is:

"Am I still looking at the same thing?"

I compare the:

  • Ship
  • Sailing date
  • Cabin category
  • VoyageFair
  • Number of Sailors
  • Current promotion
  • Eligible additional discounts
  • Promotional Sailor Loot
  • Eligible advisor Sailor Loot

That makes the comparison much more useful.

Why I Look at More Than the Price Drop

Here is a simple example.

Imagine you are watching a Sea Terrace cabin.

Option A $4,800 Cruise fare
Option B $4,550 Cruise fare
Option C $4,650 Cruise fare Plus $200 Advisor Sailor Loot

A week after Option A, you get an alert showing Option B. Great. You found a $250 price drop.

But before calling Option B the better deal, I would want to know:

  • Does it have the same VoyageFair?
  • Does your preferred cabin still exist?
  • Did the promotion change?
  • Did the original offer include Sailor Loot?
  • Does the new offer include Sailor Loot?
  • Can eligible advisor benefits be added?

Then Option C enters the picture, and the $4,550 fare is no longer automatically the strongest offer.

The Difference That is the difference between receiving a fare alert and analyzing the deal.

The Part an Automated Fare Tracker Can Miss: Sailor Loot

This is one of the biggest reasons I like evaluating the complete booking rather than watching the fare alone.

Sailor Loot is Virgin Voyages onboard credit.

Depending on the applicable terms, Sailor Loot can be used onboard toward experiences such as:

  • Drinks
  • Shore Things
  • Spa treatments
  • Shopping
  • Specialty experiences
  • Other eligible onboard purchases

Virgin sometimes includes promotional Sailor Loot in its public offers.

Qualifying advisor bookings may also have access to additional Sailor Loot or advisor benefits.

So there can be several layers to check.

Public Virgin Promotion What Virgin is currently offering everyone who qualifies.
Eligible Additional Rate Florida resident, military and First Responder, Pay in Full or another applicable rate.
Advisor Benefits Additional Sailor Loot available on qualifying bookings through my First Mate access.

That is why I check the full combination rather than assuming the public promotion is the final offer.

Can Virgin Voyages Promotions and Sailor Loot Stack?

Sometimes.

Virgin frequently changes its promotions and combinability rules, so this is one of the things I check when evaluating a fare.

A sailing could potentially have:

Current Virgin promotion + Eligible resident or other rate + Promotional Sailor Loot + Eligible advisor Sailor Loot

Or a particular promotion may have restrictions that change the equation.

The strongest option depends on your specific sailing and the terms available when you book.

That is also why two people sailing on the same ship can end up with very different booking benefits.

What Happens If the Fare Drops After You Book?

Virgin Voyages currently offers a Best Price Guarantee for qualifying lower fares or promotional offers found within 48 hours after the booking is created.

The comparison generally needs to match details such as the same sailing, sail date, cabin category, fare class and number of Sailors.

For an eligible partially paid reservation, the fare can be adjusted to reflect the qualifying difference. Eligible fully paid reservations receive Future Voyage Credit for the difference.

After the 48-hour Best Price Guarantee period, there may still be situations where it makes sense to compare a new offer with the existing reservation.

That requires looking at more than the new price.

I compare what you already have with what the new booking would include, because changing an existing reservation can affect promotional benefits or other terms.

Should You Book Now or Wait for a Better Deal?

This depends largely on how flexible you are.

If you would happily sail several dates, take different cabin locations and switch ships, you have more room to watch pricing.

If you already know:

"I want this ship, this week and a Central Sea Terrace near this part of the ship,"

the calculation changes.

Cabin inventory is moving while you are waiting for the fare to move.

So I look at three questions:

I Is the current fare strong for this sailing?
II Is the cabin you actually want available?
III What promotions, Sailor Loot and advisor benefits are available right now?

Sometimes waiting makes sense.

Sometimes the better opportunity is securing the cabin you want while the complete offer is already attractive.

A Note About Virgin's Big Percentage-Off Sales

Virgin is very good at creating attention-grabbing promotions.

You may see offers featuring 70% off a second Sailor, Instant Savings, Free Balcony Upgrades, or another limited-time promotion.

The percentage itself is only one piece of information.

I compare the final cabin fare.

Then I look at what comes with it.

A promotion advertising a larger percentage discount can still produce a higher final fare than a different offer.

That is why my fare tracking focuses on the actual booking total and benefits rather than the headline.

Browse every current Virgin Voyages sailing, compare cabins and VoyageFair options, and see my advisor Sailor Loot offers, the onboard credit available on eligible bookings through my First Mate access.

Sailor Loot amounts and eligibility vary by sailing, cabin category, booking date and the promotion available at the time of booking.

  • Cruise pricing
  • Cabin availability
  • VoyageFair options
  • Virgin promotions
  • Eligible additional rates
  • Promotional Sailor Loot
  • Eligible advisor Sailor Loot

And when something changes, the question I am trying to answer is simple:

The Only Question That Matters Did your actual deal get better?
Florida Residents: There may be another rate to check. This one is especially relevant to many of my clients because I am based in Orlando. Virgin Voyages currently offers Florida residents up to 15% off select eligible voyages, with the discount available on top of certain qualifying promotions. Eligible sailings and discount levels change, so if you are a Florida resident, I can include the resident rate when I compare your Virgin options. Virgin also offers additional rate programs for certain other travelers, including military members and First Responders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Virgin Voyages have fare alerts?

Virgin Voyages offers email alerts for cruise deals, promotions and new itineraries. Those are useful for monitoring general Virgin sales. If you already have a specific sailing in mind, I can help track that particular voyage and compare changes in the fare, cabin availability, promotions and eligible advisor benefits.

Can a travel advisor track Virgin Voyages prices for me?

Yes. If you send me the Virgin Voyages sailing and cabin you are considering, I can help monitor the fare and evaluate changes in pricing, promotions, cabin options and available benefits. The goal is to determine whether the complete offer has improved, rather than simply watching for a lower advertised fare.

How do I track a Virgin Voyages price drop?

Start with the exact ship, sailing date and cabin category you want. When the price changes, compare the same VoyageFair and number of Sailors, then account for promotions, discounts and Sailor Loot. I can do this comparison for clients who are considering or have booked a Virgin Voyages sailing with me.

What happens if my Virgin Voyages fare drops after I book?

Virgin Voyages currently offers a Best Price Guarantee for qualifying lower fares or promotional offers found within 48 hours of the booking being created. Eligibility depends on Virgin's current terms and requires a qualifying comparison with the existing reservation.

Can a Virgin Voyages travel advisor add Sailor Loot?

Qualifying Virgin Voyages bookings through participating First Mates may be eligible for additional Sailor Loot or other advisor benefits. The amount and eligibility can depend on the sailing, cabin category, booking date and applicable promotions, so I check each reservation individually.

Is Virgin Voyages cheaper through a travel advisor?

The publicly available cruise fare may be the same, but qualifying advisor bookings can include additional benefits such as Sailor Loot. That means comparing the total booking value can be more useful than comparing the cruise fare alone.

Can Virgin Voyages Sailor Loot stack with other promotions?

Some Virgin Voyages promotions and Sailor Loot offers can be combined, while others have restrictions. Combinability changes based on the promotion, so I check the current terms for the specific sailing and booking.

Does Virgin Voyages have a Florida resident discount?

Yes. Virgin Voyages currently offers Florida residents up to 15% off the voyage fare on select eligible cruises. Qualifying sailings and discount levels can change.

Should I wait for a Virgin Voyages fare to drop?

It depends on the sailing and how flexible you are about dates and cabins. If you want a particular voyage or cabin location, current availability becomes part of the decision. I compare the fare, cabin availability, promotion and eligible benefits together to determine how strong the current offer is.

What is the best way to get the best Virgin Voyages deal?

Compare the exact sailing, cabin category and VoyageFair, then account for current promotions, eligible additional rates and Sailor Loot. An advisor can also check whether a qualifying booking has access to additional benefits that are not reflected in the public cruise fare.
